About 30,000 prisoners will be released due to royal decree issued by His Majesty Mahavajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. Minor offenders suffering from disability, disease and disorders are eligible for royal pardon along with offenders who are less than 20 years are also eligible.
Chuvit, businessman turned politician is also one of the inmates to be granted royal pardon. This is the second time that he has been granted the royal pardon according to Bangkok Post.
The government committee has set up an agency to train the freed inmates for the competitive job market by training them in skills like welding, carpenter, tile-laying etc.
The conditions of the jails in Thailand reveals a dark side (just like any other jail in a country). Usually, considered to be overcrowded this is a good move to release and train the people in jobs that are required in the country.
