After huge criticism on social media and mainstream channels about chemical residues found in samples of vegetables and fruits. Doctor Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, the Deputy permanent secretary of public health and a spokesman for the ministry of health gave the following suggestions to ensure people’s safety:

Easy ways to clean fruits & Vegetables

If you are not sure that the fruits that you buy are safe from chemicals. There is an easy and cost effective way to wash your fruits efficiently that can clean almost 92% chemical out of the skin. Make sure to buy fruits & vegetables with no dirt or fungus.

  • Peel of the skin, soak in water for about 10-15 minutes and rinse off with water for another 2 minutes.
  • Use salt water to clean –  2 tablespoon full of salt for 4 litres of water
  • Clean with vinegar –  1/2 cup of vinegar mixing with 2 litres of water
  • Clean with baking soda – 1 tablespoon with 4 litres of water
