The Land Transport Department along with Department of Disease Control announced that smoking will no longer be permitted in public taxis after September 1, 2016.
“100% Smoke Free Taxi” is the campaign launched to protect public health. There could be fines of up to THB 2,000 if a cabbie fails to adhere to the law.
The authorities have already handed the “No Smoking” stickers to be placed on the taxi clearly visible to public to avoid any confusion between the driver and the passenger.
