The system of charging passengers for toilet at Bus terminals across the country has been scrapped. The Department of Land ended the system of charging passengers to use the toilet in 70 out of 117 terminals across the country.
The chief of Department of Land said the campaign to charge passengers was to make sure the toilets meet hygiene standards set by the Public Health Ministry.
The remaining 47 toilets are privately owned and will continue to charge. The department is working on coming up with a strategy to work with them soon.
The sanitation level will also be improved for all toilets at bus terminals across the country and the department will also make sure that there are appropriate number of toilets at Bus terminals across the country.
