Stealing or Inspiration? The Bangkok Museum “The Viman Phra” Design Dubbed As A Copy Of Russia’s Crystal Island Project

‘Viman Phra’ Bangkok’s popular museum proposed for the riverside landmark, a major component of the Chao Phraya’s ‘All Project’ has been accused of copying designs of the Russia’s crystal Island Project.

According to Khaosod English Thailand’s top architect Duangrit Bunnag the man who made the beautiful EmQuartier, the X2 resorts also claims that the Viman Phra was copied from plans of the Russia’s crystal island available online.

The design of the famous Bangkok museum is made by a team from the King Mongkut Institution of Technology Ladkrabang, who denied allegations made against them.

The Assistant Professor Antika Swadsri made a statement in a  press conference that the design will be revamped if people are unhappy reports The Nation.

People online are furious about this as a legal action was asked to be taken against the popular German architect Ole Schereen who is the architect behind the tallest building in Thailand, The Mahanakhon because he is a foreigner. (As per Thai labor laws Architecture is protected for locals ONLY)

One person on Social Media commented “The Mahanakohn (misspelt) is illegal because a foreigner made it! they should have let a thai make it!” This is probably why a foreign architect was used…”
