The Royal Passenger Liner Co, beneficiary of the service and operations is expected to start the service on January 1 as a gift to the public. Currently, it plans to take 150 people with NO vehicles in the beginning. It takes 5 to 6 hours to drive between the two towns which is about 350 kilometers apart but the ferry could do it within 1.5 to 2 hours.
There is also a plan to add a bigger ferry that could carry up to 260 people in the near future. The government aims to improve its East-West ferry project by connecting these two important towns thereby boosting tourism and logistics.
