Road accidents continue to be a major problem for the Transport Ministry. The death toll increased by 10% this year as reported by roadsafetythailand.com.
The total number of accidents from Dec 29th to Jan 4th are 3,372 and the total deaths recorded are 380.
Provinces with most number of deaths are Udon Thani (14), Sakon Nakhon (14), Surat Thani (10), Chiang Mai, Karasin, Krabi and Roi et (9).
Chiang Mai has the most number of accidents recorded at (117) followed by Udon Thani (102) and Surat Thani (82).
Provinces with most injuries are Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat with 125, 113 and 91 respectively.
According to Bangkok Post, the most dangerous type of vehicle continued to be Motorcycle and midnight to 4 am is the time period for the majority of accidents.
