The national cabinet ministers (administration committee) has discussed options to ease traffic jams in Bangkok. The first on the list is to build car parks in 10 rail routes in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

According to Bangkok Post, the Prime Minister has ordered Transport Ministry to look for car park locations to ease congestion in the city.

It is estimated the car park locations would accommodate 89,000 vehicles along the 54 locations along 10 rail routes (MRTA).

The other locations along the rail routes would be owned by private sector such as malls which could accommodate 13,855 vehicles.

The government is also looking for ways to ease traffic in other provinces such as Phuket, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Songkhla, Khon Kaen and Phitsanulok.
