If you happen to be staying or living in Bangkok and want to find some great golf courses, the good news is that there are some fantastic clubs to choose from. Here are some of the best golf courses you can find in and around Bangkok.
This golf club in Nakhon Pathom on the outskirts of Bangkok has a resort which not only includes playing golf, but also gives you the option to play tennis and squash or swim in the large luxurious swimming pool there. Players of all handicaps will feel at home on this relatively new course, which is mostly flat and open with large areas of water and long sand bunkers.
Address: 101/1 Moo.3 Rangsit Thanyaburi Bangkok, 12110
For novice golfers who have a high handicap this club will be good to play at, as the courses are mostly flat, open tree-lined fairways. There are three 9 hole courses to choose from, with the Greenfield 9 being the easiest course to play on. If you want more of a challenge there is the Forest 9 course.
Address: 73 Moo 17 Phaholyothin Rd. Km.37 Klong 1 Klong Luang Pathumthani 12120
In all honesty, high handicap players might want to steer clear of this golf course. The Navatanee course was built back in 1973 to host the 1975 World Cup of Golf championship. It was built for professional golfers and also for skilled amateur golfers whose game will be tested over the 6,902 yard championship course that is of international standards.
Address: 22 Navatanee Road, Kwaeng Ramintra, Khet Kannayao, Bangkok 10230
This course is breathtakingly beautiful and not very far from Bangkok. There is an abundance of wildlife and over 10,000 trees lining the challenging fairways. You will see perhaps the most visually stunning bunkers you will ever see and you can even go for a swim overlooking the 10th hole. There is a mixture of flat and sloping terrain which will challenge medium to highly skilled golfers.
Address: 29, Moo7, Lam Luk Ka Road, Tambon Lamsai, Pathumthani, 12150
A fairly new course with hilly terrain and speedy greens surrounded by palm trees, plenty of bunkers and water hazards. A beautiful course to play on, but perhaps would have high handicapped players tearing their hair out half way around. Located in Nakornpathom which is only a short drive away from the city centre.

The Gassan golf course in Rama 2 located along Ta Kam Road near Big C and Central Rama II is not a very well known course; in fact it only has 9 holes and a driving range, so why is it listed here? Well . . . it is arguably the toughest course in all of Bangkok. This little course will test your short game and then some. Although the course is small and you can play every hole with just a 9 iron, there are deep bunkers with high sides and one hole even has a stream and a large tree right in front of it! You will have to choose between aiming over or under the tree which is mined with some nasty little bunkers. On the 9th hole you will have to play across water to land your golf ball on a tiny little island on the middle of a pond! It has to be said that this course is tougher than all of the other golf courses mentioned above, so if you want a real challenge then here it is, just prepare to lose many balls on the way round!

The good news is that you don’t have to be a member to enjoy playing on these golf courses. All of the courses in and around Bangkok are open to tourists or players wanting adventure, in the form of golf packages, often with top class resort accommodation nearby.
Psst! Here is a little known secret . . .
If you do fall in love with a particular golf course and want to buy lifetime membership then let me tell you an inside secret that can save you a lot of money . . . Sometimes you can buy lifetime membership second hand; just ask around in the clubhouse for news of anyone wanting to sell their lifetime membership and don’t offer any more than 50% of the original lifetime membership fee. Just double check with the club that transfer of membership is possible and that the membership number/name is legit.
Driving ranges in Bangkok are fantastic places to relax, practice and let off some steam. Plus, if you want to cut down the cost of playing on golf courses regularly, the good news is that driving ranges are pretty inexpensive, with 100 balls (about 4 trays) costing usually no more than around 200 baht. You can order food and drink, plus beer too, delivered to your table next to your driving bay. You will notice that at random times there will suddenly be an announcement for a competition, such as the first person to send a golf ball into one of the nets at set distances, often with prizes such as golfing accessories.
You can buy golfing lessons in a package from 500 to 1,000 baht per hour with personal tuition from a pro. However, do make sure that the pro golfer has been recommended by people you know and that they have a genuine pro track record as well as still actively playing. Otherwise you could end up with some random guy down from Esan teaching you with no verifiable track record, spouting nonsense. If you follow up personal recommendations from friends and fellow golfers you can often bag a substantial discount if you are a ‘friend of a friend’.
