Bangkok – As this Saturday marks Children’s Day in Thailand, the BTS and MRT will offer free rides for kids smaller than 1.40 m in height. Sorry tall kids! This is to encourage families to explore Bangkok with their kids. Parents or guardians can get a free pass at the ticket booth at all stations.
This is similar to the 5th of December on Father’s Day last year in honor of Thailand Father’s Day, where all fathers in the kingdom would be able to ride the BTS and BRT for free when accompanied by their children.
According to the BTS official website, they launch this to encourage families to spend more time together. There will also be activities and games (with prizes!) from 7:30 am until 10 am at Mochit BTS station.
National Children’s Day or more famously known as “Wan Dek” has always been observed on the second Saturday in January in the Kingdom every year since 1955. Through this holiday, BRT hopes to give kids the opportunities to have fun while creating awareness about their important role in the country’s development. Many government offices including the Government House and Parliament open their doors to children and their families during this holiday.
