Brace yourselves Fast and Furious fans, the Fast and Furious franchise is coming to the Land of Smiles.
Fast and Furious 9 production manager, Piya Pestonji met up with Lieutenant Colonel M.L. Kitbadee Prawit at Provincial Hall to discuss the details of the production along with the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) at Krabi Office, Apichai Arnyik.
This movie production will see more than 340 million baht invested into Thailand and create employment throughout the country, said Krabi’s governor.
“This is a proud moment for Thai people and a chance to be good hosts and to promote the country’s tourist attractions, natural resources, culture and history globally.
“I am pleased to welcome the production crew and cast. This opportunity will benefit locals greatly and I call on every sector to cooperate in being good, polite hosts,” he said.
“We are coordinating with relevant departments to help facilitate the establishment of a temporary office in Krabi for the preparation of the production,” the mayor added.
The governor welcomed the franchise as an opportunity for Thailand’s culture, history and nature to be showcased to the world through the film.
For all WWE fans, good news to you lot as John Cena has also officially joined the cast. John’s character is currently still under wraps, but Deadline has reported he will be playing “a bada**”.
The WWE star confirmed the news himself in a Tweet which read: “For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It’s an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family.
Filming is scheduled to take place on 1 July to 27 July in Phuket, Phangnga, Krabi and Surat Thani.
“The Fast and the Furious 9” is hoped to be a great advertisement for the nature, culture and history of the kingdom, according to the Krabi governor.
