Thais visiting Hong Kong advised to avoid protest sites for next 5 days

The Thai Consular Office in Hong Kong is strongly advising Thai people travelling to the territory to avoid protest sites this weekend and on Thursday October 31st for their safety, because the protests can turn violent without warning.

The Office also warned travellers not to take pictures of the protestors or police at or near the protest sites, and avoid any act which may be seen as provocative.  They were also informed that travel around the city, by car or MRT, may take longer than usual.

Specific areas to be avoided are:
Saturday 26th

  • Tamar Park in the Admiralty area
  • Chater Garden in the Central area

Sunday 27th (PM)

  • Salisbury Garden in the Sha Tsui area of Kowloon
  • Kwun Tong Promenade in the Kwun Tong area

Thursday 31st (from 7pm)

  • MTR Prince Edward area
