Election in Thailand to be held exactly one year from today “maybe”

The government has given tentative dates for elections to be held in 2015, 2016 and 2017 however, no exact dates were ever mentioned.

The Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam told reporters that the elections would be held exactly 1 year from now which is February 2018.

Mr. Wissanu then made corrections to his statement and told reporters that the government could roughly estimate the election date. He also mentioned that he has to be more careful when speaking about election dates according to Bangkok Post.

The constitution is waiting endorsement from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. The Royal Bureau requested changes to the royal power in the draft.

The government will submit the amended version by February 18, 2017 for approval from the Royal Bureau.
